CHARLESTON, S.C. – Despite leading 1-0 at the half, the Elon University women's soccer team's match against Charleston Southern was cancelled due to lightning in the area at CSU Soccer Stadium that began 20 seconds into the second half. Even with the score 1-0 after 45 minutes, the match will not count and will not be rescheduled.
 
Kelly Siewers had the lone goal for the Phoenix as she slotted home a pass from Susannah Anderson at the back left post in the sixth minute. Elon outshot the Bucs 11-6 in the half, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.

The Phoenix will look to get a result to close out the weekend on Sunday, Aug. 23, as they take a trip to Davidson to take on the Wildcats at 2 p.m.
