Final Results

GENEVA, Ohio. – The Elon University women's track and field team saw a few more of its school records fall today as the Phoenix completed competition on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the highly prestigious Spire Institute Division I Challenge.
 
Jen Esposito established a new school record in the 400-meter dash as the Mansfield, Mass., native clocked a 55.29 in the race. She finished seventh overall in the event. Esposito then went on to help the 4x400-meter relay team also featuring Desiree Ross, Lauren Brzozowski and Lydia Laws set a new indoor school record with their time of 3:48.44.
 
Carrie Abraham set a new personal-record in the long jump as the junior had a leap of 18' 9.25 (5.72m) for a fourth-place standing. She also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships. Abraham also was sixth in the triple jump with her mark of 38' 11" (11.86m).
 
Sydney Griffin advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles after running a time of 8.55 in the preliminaries. She ended the race 10th with her time of 8.69 in the finals. Elyse Bierut was Elon's top runner in the 3,000-meters with her time of 9:52.91 followed by teammate Brigid Brennan at 9:58.71, as she broke into the top-five on the school's all-time performance list.
 
Megan Kirschling finished the high jump tied for fifth with her cleared height of 5' 4.25" (1.63m) while Bre'anna Warren was Elon's top thrower in the shot put at 43' 9.75" (13.35m).
 
The Phoenix is back in action next weekend, Feb. 20, in its final indoor meet of the regular season, the Penn State Tune-Up.
