Box Score WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Elon University baseball team was limited to just five hits as the UNCW Seahawks downed the Phoenix by a 12-3 score in game two of a Colonial Athletic Association contest at Brooks Field on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Zammarelli hit a home run and drove in two for Elon (9-14, 1-4 CAA).

For UNCW (15-6, 2-0) both Gavin Stupienski and Nick Feight homered and drove in three runs.

Mason Daniels (2-2) struck out eight in 5.0 innings of work, but was charged with seven runs (four earned) on eight hits to take the loss.

UNCW starter Alex Royalty (5-1) gave up two runs on three hits in 6.0 innings and retired the final 10 Elon hitters he faced. Austin Magestro earned his first save after striking out four in 3.0 innings.

How It Happened: Elon jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Zammarelli followed Kory Shumate's leadoff single with a homer to center. It was the fourth long ball of the season for Zammarelli.

The Seahawks got one back on a sacrifice fly in the second before moving in front 3-2 in the third. With runners on the corners and two outs, Nick Feight doubled down the third base line to drive in both runners.

It remained a 3-2 contest until the last of the sixth when Zack Canada homered to left to lead off the inning. Elon then committed three consecutive errors that eventually led to three more UNCW runs and a 7-2 deficit for the Phoenix.

Kyle Jackson began the seventh by sending a 2-1 pitch over the wall in left for his league-leading ninth home run of the season to make it a 7-3 contest.

Notes: The start of the game was delayed by 1:31 due to rain in the Wilmington area... Shumate extended his hitting streak to a career-best 10 games.
