ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, April 12, to host Appalachian State at 3 p.m. The match will be part of a men's and women's tennis doubleheader at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Alex Koniaev clinched the 5-2 victory for the maroon and gold with a win on court five.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday will be the 14th all-time meeting against two former Southern Conference foes. The maroon and gold has the upper hand in the series with a 9-4 lead overall and have won seven of the last eight meetings. It will be the first time Elon has faced Appalachian State since 2014, when the Phoenix was victorious, 4-3, on April 1.
MOVING INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
In the program's Division I record book,
Erica Braschi currently has 43 career dual-match singles victories thus far in her career, which is currently tied with Briana Berne '13 for the eighth most career singles wins. She is eight singles wins away from moving into the top-five. She owns a 74.1 percent career winning percentage, which ranks third all-time. Her 37 career doubles wins currently ranks eighth all-time and she needs two more to move into sixth.
Olivia Lucas is one doubles win away from entering the top-10 in the program's Division I record books. Her 35 career singles wins is tied for 10th all time and one more win will move her into sole possession of 10
th all-time in the Division I era.
CAA HONORS
Braschi collected Elon's second conference honor, earning CAA Player of the Week on April 4, after defeating No. 124 Celia Ruiz of East Carolina on Saturday, April 1. Additionally, Braschi and
Olivia Lucas earned CAA Doubles Team of the Week on March 14 after finishing 3-0 during a 2-1 week for the Phoenix.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Phoenix has been on a tear at home this season owning a 11-1 mark at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Elon opened the season with an eight-match winning streak at home until Winthrop handed the Phoenix its only loss at home on March 12.
FINDING THEIR GROOVE
In singles, six of Elon's eight players have double-digit win totals this season and
Sofia Edo is one win away from making it seven with a 9-5 mark. Braschi currently owns the team's longest active singles winning streak with four. She improved her season record to 13-7 overall after a win over Liza Fieldsend on Saturday.
Maria Paraja owns the most singles wins on the team with 14 thus far.
In doubles action, Braschi and Lucas hold a 12-6 record this year in dual matches, the best mark of any Elon pairing.
Kirsten Ward and Zenoni are nearing the double-digit win mark with a 9-7 record this season.
SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
The Mountaineers enter Wednesday's match with a 5-17 record. Appalachian State's matchup against the Phoenix is its regular season finale before heading to the Sun Belt Conference Championships. Taylor Bygrave currently has the most singles wins for the Mountaineers with eight, primarily at the No. 5 position. Heidi Swope and McKayla Zupan have posted the most doubles wins this season on court two with eight. Appalachian State just snapped an eight-match losing streak on Sunday with 4-3 victory over Georgia Southern.
HEAD COACH ELIZABETH ANDERSON
Elizabeth Anderson is entering her 13th season as head coach of the Phoenix. Anderson earned her first-ever year accolade, after she was named the 2016 CAA Coach of the Year. She has led Elon to six straight seasons of 14 or more wins and guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament in 2014.
