Elizabeth Anderson announced the addition of junior college transfer
Montana Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman
Mia Wallace (Arlington, Mass.) for the upcoming 2017-18 season on Wednesday afternoon, July 12.
"We are looking forward to Montana [Moore] and Mia [Wallace] arriving on campus," said Anderson. "They both have a very good work ethic and strong desire to achieve their full potential both academically and athletically. We are looking forward to working with them and seeing what they can achieve as a part of our program."
Moore joins the Phoenix as a transfer from Tyler Junior College in Texas after spending her first two years with the Lady Apaches. Moore guided Tyler Junior College to its 18th national championship in program history and also claimed the national doubles championship during her sophomore campaign in 2016-17. She also helped the Lady Apaches to a No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA national polls during the 2016-17 season. Moore completed her second season with a 23-4 record in singles and 18-4 mark in doubles action. Moore was a five-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network coming out of the junior ranks.
Wallace competed at Arlington High School and finished her career with a stellar senior season. The two-time All-Scholastic selection and team captain, completed her senior year with an undefeated high school season, won the North State Individual Singles title, was a Massachusetts Singles State Finalist, and guided her Arlington High School team to its first state tournament appearance in eight years during the 2017 campaign. She was named the Boston Globe Player of the Year for her efforts and was also the recipient of the MIAA Sportsmanship Award. Wallace was also a three-time team MVP at Arlington and was a two-time Middlesex League MVP and All Star. Wallace is a three-star recruit according to Tennis Recruiting Network.
