Final Results

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's tennis sent three student-athletes to participate in the UNCW Fall Invitational at Porter's Neck Country Club over the weekend from Sept. 8-10. It marked the first of six fall tournaments the Phoenix is scheduled to participate in this fall.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
Playing his first collegiate event in Singles Flight B, Camilo Ponce led Elon with a trip to the consolation final after posting two wins in the consolation bracket earlier in the weekend. Ponce dropped his opening match against Raisei Sakai of Longwood before beating both Spencer Brown of Appalachian State (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Daniel Hernandez of Longwood (6-3, 3-6, 6-0) in three-set matches. On Sunday, though, Ponce lost the consolation final to Raphael Calzi of UNCW, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
 
Both Jacob Bicknell and Louis Rico each picked up a win over the course of their three respective matches in Singles Flight B. Both defeated Alex Pavkovich of Appalachian State, with Bicknell winning in the consolation semifinals by the score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and Rico in an extra match by the score of 6-7 (0), 6-4, 7-5.
 
UP NEXT
Elon will compete in the Duke James Bonk Invite in Durham, N.C., from Friday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 17. A season ago, Felipe Sarrasague reached the White Singles Final while Mario Paccini won the consolation draw of the Blue Singles bracket.
