ROCK HILL, S.C. – Elon University women's tennis suffered a 6-1 setback against Winthrop on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.

HIGHLIGHTS
Winthrop (3-2) took the initial advantage in the match sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. The Eagles would go on to win five of six singles matches to take the win. Three of the six singles matches went to a third set.

Alex Koniaev led the Phoenix (5-5) with the team's lone point in the match as she earned a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 4 singles against Tayla Van Eck.

Olivia Lucas battled ITA No. 20-ranked Lauren Proctor at No. 1, forcing a third set after falling 6-4 in the opening frame. Lucas bounced back with a 6-4 win the second set, but Proctor came back and won the decisive set 6-3 to earn the win.

Maria Paraja played three set in her match, but fell to Aida Kelic, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5
