DAVIDSON, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis dropped another tight contest on Saturday, Feb. 24, with a 5-2 loss to Davidson at the Davidson Tennis Courts. Despite dropping the doubles point, three of the six singles matches went to a third set as Elon kept the match close until the end.

Erica Braschi led the Phoenix (5-6) with a 2-0 record in singles and doubles combined against the Wildcats. She picked up a 6-2 win in doubles and a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 victory at No. 1 over Anna Feaster in singles play.
Olivia Lucas also picked up a strong win at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 6-2, victory over Megan Scholvinck.

HIGHLIGHTS
Elon got off to a good start in doubles play as Braschi and
Montana Moore won at the No. 3 position 6-2 to put the Phoenix ahead in the point. Davidson responded with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match.

Davidson extended its lead 2-0 with a victory at No. 6 singles, but Braschi's victory at No. 1 brought the Phoenix within one, 2-1, with four singles matches remaining. Lindsay Song extended the Wildcats' lead 3-1 with a win at No. 5 and Alexandra Abele clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over
Suzanne Zenoni at the No. 4 position.

Lucas cut Davidson's lead to 4-2 with her win at No. 2 singles before Davidson closed out the match with Gabrielle Centenari's win on court four.

The Phoenix returns to action with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 3, against Wingate and North Carolina Central at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
