ELON, N.C. – After dropping the doubles point, Elon University women's tennis battled back to earn a 5-2 victory over UNCW on Saturday, March 10, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Suzanne Zenoni highlighted Elon's (8-7) performance going a perfect 2-0 overall after earning wins in both singles and doubles. The Phoenix battled back from a 1-0 deficit winning four straight matches to open singles play to claim the win. UNCW falls to 1-8 overall with the loss to Elon.
"I thought we competed hard against a good UNCW team," said head coach
Elizabeth Anderson. "They're a great rival in our conference and we had to battle through some adversity in the very beginning during doubles and at the start of singles. But, the team really showed a lot of grit and fought hard to pull out the win in the end. We'd also like to thank our marketing department for having brunch at today's match. It really helped created a good home-court atmosphere at today's match."
