GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team fell 4-1 to Massachusetts on Wednesday, March 14. Due to high winds, the match, which was originally scheduled to be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, was relocated to the indoor courts at the Starmount Country Club in Greensboro, N.C

HIGHLIGHTS
Elon's sole win in doubles came on court three where
Kirsten Ward and
Suzanne Zenoni won handedly by a score of 6-3. Massachusetts responded with wins in the remaining doubles matches to claim the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Minutewomen quickly extended their lead to 3-0, with
Olivia Lucas falling 6-0, 6-3 on court one and
Alex Koniaev 6-2, 6-1 on court 3.

Zenoni kept Elon in it on court 2, as her success continued from doubles. She won 6-4, 6-2, claiming the lone Elon victory of the afternoon and pulling the Phoenix within 2 at 3-1.

The Minutewomen clinched the match on court four, where
Maria Paraja bounced back from a 7-6 first set loss to win her second set 6-4. She came up just short in a third set comeback, falling to Laura Moreno 6-3, Massachusetts a 4-1 victory.

Montana Moore's and
Kirsten Ward's matches both went unfinished. Ward was holding a 3-6, 6-3, 5-4 lead, and Moore down 6-7, 1-3 when play was stopped.

The Phoenix will return to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Tuesday, March 15 at 2:00 pm to take on the University of Alabama – Birmingham.
