Box Score ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball dropped their first game of the season to Georgia Tech, 64-41, on Monday, Nov. 11.

The Phoenix was led by senior guard
Marcus Sheffield II who scored 12 points, while adding eight boards and two steals.

Georgia Tech was led by Michael Devoe who scored 22 points. James Banks III chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds and six blocks on the evening.

HIGHLIGHTS
Elon came out of the gates firing early in the first half, after back-to-back Marcus Sheffield buckets heading into the media timeout tied the game at 4-4. Out of the timeout,
Simon Wright knocked down a tough mid-range jumper to give Elon its first lead of the game.

Down by 11 early, a Hunter Wood's basket in the paint followed by a McIntosh step-back three ignited a 7-0 Elon run that was capped by a Marcus Sheffield layup. The early spark kept Elon close, bringing the score to 17-13.

After a late Georgia Tech run, the Phoenix entered the half trailing by 12.

With just under 12 minutes remaining in the game, Marcus Sheffield's put-back layup off an offensive rebound followed by a
Kris Wooten turnaround jumper sparked an 8-0 Elon run. Capped by a Wooten three, the run cut the deficit to 16 with just under 10 minutes to play.

- With today's loss, Elon fell to 2-1 on the season.
- The Phoenix shot the ball 21.6 percent from the floor, including 10.0 percent clip from long range.

- Elon outrebounded Georgia Tech 15-6 on the offensive glass
