7/22/2019 2:47:00 PM

TEMPE, Ariz. – Elon University women's tennis continues to excel in the classroom, with the team being named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the 14th year in a row, announced on July 18.

Additionally, the Phoenix had ITA Scholar-Athletes in Olivia Archer, Uma Nayar, Nicole Shiau, Mia Wallace, and Suzanne Zenoni.

"It is an honor for our team to be recognized by the ITA," said head coach Elizabeth Anderson. "Our student-athletes are very fortunate to have outstanding professors and dedicated student-athlete academic staff who do a fantastic job in helping them to achieve their goals."

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a player must meet the following criteria:
1.) Be a varsity letter winner.
2.) Have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
3.) Have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

This year, All-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis. All members of the 2019 ITA All-Academic Teams and ITA Scholar-Athletes will receive a certificate to recognize the achievement.
