CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the second year in a row, Elon University quarterback
Davis Cheek has been named to the watch list for the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Player of the Year Trophy. Announced Tuesday, Aug. 13, Cheek is one of 40 student-athletes selected to the list.

Selected as a member of the list before the start of the 2018 season as well, Cheek has thrown for 3,449 yards across 18 games in maroon and gold throughout his career while completing 269-of-443 passes for 19 touchdowns. The 2017 CAA Football Rookie of the Year, Cheek's sophomore campaign in 2018 was cut short due to injury, but is on track to return under center for the Phoenix in 2019.

Cheek is one of four players to be named to the list in 2019. He's joined by JMU quarterback Ben DiNucci, Maine quarterback Chris Ferguson and Towson quarterback Tom Flacco.
