Elon Rounds Out Non-Conference Play Against UNC Greensboro Saturday

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball hosts UNC Greensboro on Saturday, Dec. 19, in its non-conference finale. Tipoff at Schar Center is scheduled for 1 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
- This marks the 42nd time that Elon and UNC Greensboro will meet in program history, with Elon leading in the series 26-15.
- In their most recent meeting in 2017, UNC Greensboro defeated Elon, 75-44.
 
ABOUT ELON
- Elon is led by sophomore guard Hunter McIntosh, who leads the team in scoring (20.7 ppg) and assists (3.0 apg).
- Junior forward Federico Poser leads the team in field goal percentage (.688) while posting 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game as well.
- Sophomore forward Hunter Woods is second on the team in rebounding (4.7 rpg) and fourth on the team in scoring (7.7 ppg).
- Guards Kris Wooten and Ikenna Ndugba are combining to average 11.7 ppg and 3.3 apg through three games.
- In its most recent outing, Elon defeated Campbell, 66-56.
- Hunter McIntosh led the way for the Phoenix, posting a season-high 23 points and seven rebounds, while knocking down all eight of his free throws. 
- Hunter Woods chipped in a season-high 11 points and seven rebounds, while Kris Wooten finished with season-highs in points (12), rebounds (3) and threes (4) for the Phoenix.
- Following its win against Campbell, the Phoenix moved to 3-0 on the season for the first time in Division I program history.
- Elon has won its first three home games to start a season for the first time since 2017-18 (six straight).
- With a win against UNC Greensboro, Elon would finish non-conference play undefeated for the first time in program history.
- Elon's win over N.C. Wesleyan made Schrage the first Elon coach since Bob Burton in 1987-88 to win his first two season openers.
 
SCOUTING UNC GREENSBORO
- Wes Miller is in the midst of his 10th season at the helm of the UNC Greensboro program, compiling a 165-127 overall record during his tenure.
- UNCG is off to a 3-3 start to the season after defeating USC Upstate, 65-57, in their most recent outing.
- The Spartans are led by Isaiah Miller, who is currently averages 21.2 ppg. UNCG has also gotten major contributions from Kaleb Hunter, who leads the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg) and is third on the team in scoring (7.5 ppg).
 
LOOKING AHEAD IN 2020-21
- Following its opening three games at home, the maroon and gold hit the road for an away contest against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Dec. 6. Elon then travels to Washington, D.C. to matchup with Howard on Dec. 8. Both games are part of the Mako Medical Duke Classic Honoring Dr. Onye E. Akwari, a multi-team event being co-hosted by Duke and Howard.
- The Phoenix rounds out the road trip with a Dec. 12 tilt against North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. Elon then returns home to finish non-conference play against Campbell (Dec. 15) and UNCG (Dec. 19). 
- Elon begins its 2020-21 conference slate on Jan. 2 when it travels to Boston to take on Northeastern.
- Elon concludes the regular season with a pair of home contests against Hofstra on Feb. 27 and 28.
 
UP NEXT
The Phoenix will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 3, against Mercer. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Schar Center.
