Elon Rounds Out Regular Season Against William & Mary

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 29, to close out the regular season against CAA foe William & Mary.

COVERAGE
- Elon's contest against William & Mary will be streamed live on FloSports.
- Listen to the Elon IMG Sports Network coverage on Phoenix All-Access or on the TuneIn app. Taylor Durham and Brian Morris will have the call from Williamsburg, with the pregame show beginning at 3:30 p.m.

CAA TOURNAMENT
- The 2019-20 CAA Tournament will be held at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. beginning on Saturday, March 7.
- With a win against William & Mary on Saturday, Elon would lock themselves in as the seventh seed in the CAA tournament. A loss, coupled with a Drexel win, would drop the Phoenix to the eighth seed. 
- Depending on seeding, the Phoenix will open the CAA tournament on Saturday against James Madison, UNCW or Drexel. The start time of Elon's first round matchup is still to be determined.
- Tickets for the upcoming CAA Tournament can be purchased through the Elon Ticket Office by calling (336) 278-6750 or by visiting the ticket office at Schar Center.

THE MATCHUP
- This marks the 19th time in program history that Elon will take on William & Mary
- In the most recent meeting, the Tribe defeated the Phoenix, 74-73, on Dec. 30, 2019.
- William & Mary currently holds the advantage over Elon in the all-time series, 15-3.
 
ABOUT ELON
- Elon currently ranks first in the CAA and sixth nationally in 3-point field goals made per game at 10.1, and have the fifth most made threes (302) in the NCAA this season. The Phoenix also ranks second in the CAA in 3-point FG percentage (36.5).
- Elon has now won five of its last seven games and sits at the seventh spot in the CAA standings
- Victories over UNCW and Charleston gave Elon its first road sweep and longest winning streak (W3) of the season.
- The Phoenix's 19 made threes against N.C. Wesleyan is tied for the 10th most in a single game in the NCAA this season.
- The Phoenix currently ranks third in the CAA in assists per game (13.4) and first in assist to turnover ratio (1.1).
- Elon ranks third the CAA in defensive rebound percentage at 75.5%
- Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh ranks ninth in the CAA in assists per game (3.0), while freshman forward Hunter Woods ranks ninth in rebounds per game (6.3)
- The Phoenix is led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield who ranks seventh in the CAA in scoring is at 18.4 points per game. Sheffield also ranks fifth in the CAA in three-point percentage (41.3)

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
- The Tribe is off to a 20-10 start this season, after defeating James Madison, 78-74, in their most recent outing
- William & Mary is in its first season under head coach Dane Fischer, who served as the top assistant coach at George Mason for four seasons prior to joining the Tribe's staff.
- The Tribe is led by Nathan Knight, who leads the team in scoring (20.6 ppg) and rebounding (10.7 rpg).
- William & Mary currently sits in the second spot in the CAA standings, posting a 12-5 record in 17 conference games so far this season
  
LAST TIME OUT
- Elon had its three-game road winning streak snapped on Saturday, Feb. 22, after falling to Towson 84-71.
- Sheffield led the way for the Phoenix, dropping 18 points and four rebounds while knocking down a game-high four threes in the contest. Chuck Hannah scored in double-figures for the second time this season, posting 10 points and three rebounds.

UP NEXT
- Following the contest against William & Mary, Elon will travel to Washington, D.C. to kick off the CAA Tournament beginning on March 7.
