RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association released the 2020 Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, and four Phoenix have been named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Additionally, Elon University baseball was picked to finish third alongside College of Charleston.
Last season's CAA regular season champions, the Phoenix received 44 total points in the voting. UNCW, which edged the maroon and gold 6-5 in the 2019 CAA Championship, was picked to win the league with seven first-place votes and 63 total points. Northeastern was chosen second with two first-place votes and 54 points. Following Elon and Charleston are William & Mary (40), James Madison (32), and Delaware (23). Rounding out the poll are Hofstra and Towson with 12 points each.

Anthony Galason find themselves on the Preseason Team. UNCW and Elon led the way with four selections each. Northeastern's Ian Fair was tabbed as the Preseason Player of the Year.
Satterfield, an infielder from Greenville, S.C., earned First Team All-CAA honors in 2019 and was Elon's Team MVP. He started all 57 games for the Phoenix, batting .325 (69-212) with a .476 slugging percentage and a .438 on-base percentage. His season totals included 45 runs, 14 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 35 RBIs, 39 walks, and three steals. Satterfield turned in 19 multi-hit games, seven multi-RBI games, had an 11-game hit streak, and reached safely in 31 consecutive games. He also led the team with 386 putouts to go with 37 assists for a .981 fielding percentage.
A utility player from Westport, Conn., Stonehouse made 21 starts with a .311 (23-74) batting average last year. He tallied five doubles with 18 walks, 15 runs, 16 RBIs, and a pair of stolen bases. He also had seven multi-hit performances, five multi-RBI outings, a six-game hit streak, and a six-game reached base streak. He hit 6-for-8 with two doubles, four walks, seven RBIs, six runs scored, and a steal in Elon's series win over Wagner. In the second game at Western Carolina, Stonehouse finished 4-for-5, scored twice, and drove in three runs to help secure a 12-11 win in 10 innings.
A Second Team All-CAA selection last year, Wetherbee was the Sunday starter for Phoenix. The Fiskdale, Mass. native went 7-4 with one save and a 3.00 ERA in 18 appearances and 11 starts. He tallied 98 strikeouts in 84.0 innings pitched while holding opposing hitters to a .218 average. He reached double-digit strikeouts three times and was the CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 2 after holding Northeastern scoreless through a career-high 8.0 innings pitched. He allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five to get the victory. He also didn't allow a Huskies runner to get past second base.
Galason, an outfielder from Colts Neck, N.J., had quite the freshman campaign as he picked up Second Team All-CAA and CAA All-Rookie Team honors. He was also named the conference Rookie of the Week on April 8 after finishing 7-for-18 (.389) with his first career long ball, four doubles, three RBIs, and four runs through four games. He made 56 starts in 57 appearances on the season, hitting .274 (62-226) with 43 runs, a team-high 18 doubles, one home run, 25 RBIs, 19 walks, and two swiped bags.
The 2020 season opens next weekend, Feb. 14-16, as the Phoenix hosts Delaware State for a three-game series at Latham Park. Elon's season opener is scheduled for a 4 p.m. first pitch on Friday, Feb. 14. Season tickets are still available for the 33-game home schedule.
