Box Score ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball rounded out a historic season after falling to Northeastern, 68-60, in the CAA semifinals on Monday, March 9. The Phoenix's appearance in the semifinals was the first in program history and marked just the fifth time a No. 7 seed advanced to the semifinals in CAA history.
THE RUNDOWN
Trailing by as much as 19 in the second half, Elon continued to battle, going on an 11-2 run with 16:43 remining in the game to get back into the contest.
Hunter McIntosh's floater from just inside the free throw line sparked the burst that lasted just over eight minutes. Following McIntosh's bucket,
Federico Poser scored on three straight possessions to cut the deficit to 11. After a quick score by Northeastern pushed their lead back to 13, Sheffield drilled a deep three to bring the Phoenix within 10.

With Northeastern leading 52-39 with 7:40 remaining in the contest, Sheffield and McIntosh knocked down back-to-back threes to bring Elon within seven. Despite a late comeback attempt by the Phoenix, Northeastern was able to hold on for a 68-60 win.

In the first half, Northeastern used a strong start to the game to take a sixteen-point lead into the break.

HIGHLIGHTS
Sheffield led the way for Elon, posting 20 points and four rebounds on the evening. His 20 points tonight marked the 23
rd consecutive game in which he scored in double figures and 30
th overall this season.

McIntosh dropped 20 points, five rebounds and three steals in a career-high 40 minutes for the Phoenix. McIntosh finished the year by securing his third straight double-digit scoring outing and his 20
th overall this year.

Poser rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Phoenix, dropping 10 points and four rebounds in the loss. Poser scored 10-plus points in all three games during the CAA Tournament.

Northeastern was led by Jordan Roland, who supplied 21 points and four assists for the Huskies. Bolden Brace added 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win.
