TEMPE, Ariz. – Elon University women's tennis continues to excel in the classroom, with the team being named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the 15th year in a row, announced on July 27.

Additionally, the Phoenix had ITA Scholar-Athletes in Olivia Archer, Uma Nayar, Nicole Shiau, Sofia Edo, Alex Koniaev, Kiana Rizzolo, Shauna Galvin and Victoria Saldh.

"It is an honor for our team to be recognized by the ITA," said head coach Elizabeth Anderson. "Our team works very hard both in the classroom and on the court.  They are very fortunate to have exceptional professors and an outstanding student-athlete academic staff to help them to reach their goals."

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2019 and spring 2020).

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a player must meet the following criteria:
1.) Be a varsity letter winner.
2.) Have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
3.) Have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

This year, All-Academic honors were awarded to 244 teams and 1,430 student-athletes in Division I college tennis. All members of the 2020 ITA All-Academic Teams and ITA Scholar-Athletes will receive a certificate to recognize the achievement.
