Elon, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis head coach
Elizabeth Anderson announced the signing of transfer Sibel Tanik on Friday, August 7.
"We are thrilled that Sibel is joining our team," Anderson stated. "While at ECU, she played towards the top of their lineup and had impressive wins, including wins over some of the top players from our conference. She brings a lot of experience and will make an immediate impact this year. Sibel is also a wonderful person and is very team oriented. We look forward to seeing her thrive academically and athletically at Elon."
Tanik, a native of Raleigh, N.C., joins the Phoenix after spending her freshman season with East Carolina. During her time with the Pirates, Tanik led the team with 12 singles victories, while also winning the singles flight of the ECU Fall Invitational.
Prior to ECU, Tanik attended Sanderson High School where she won back-to-back Singles Regional Championships and earned Female Athlete of the Year honors as a junior and senior. Tanik also excelled off the court, being named to the Honor Roll in each of her four years at Sanderson.
Tanik will join the Phoenix in the spring of 2021.
