Women’s Soccer Travels to James Madison and Drexel to Conclude Regular Season Thursday and Sunday

ELON, N.C.— Elon University women's soccer will complete its regular-season schedule with a pair of road matches at James Madison on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and at Drexel on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.

THE SERIES
-The Dukes lead the overall series, 2-5-0.
-Elon won the last matchup against James Madison earlier this year on March 21, 2021, 1-0 (OT). Bethany Harford scored the game-winning goal in the 92nd minute.
-The Phoenix is 1-4-1 all time against the Dragons.
-The last meeting between the two teams, which took place on Oct. 6, 2019, ended in a 1-1 draw. Kayla Hodges scored the lone goal for the maroon and gold.  

ABOUT ELON
-Elon ranks fifth in conference standings with an 8-5-2 (3-2-2 CAA) record.
-The Phoenix went 1-0-1 last week, including a scoreless draw against William & Mary and a 2-1 double-overtime upset against #23/25 Hofstra in its final regular-season home match.
-Against the Tribe, McKenna Dalfonso recorded a career-high eight saves. Her previous high came in the 2020 CAA Championship Semifinals when the Phoenix defeated No. 23 Hofstra 1-0 (7).
-In Elon's win against the Pride, Lydia Totten scored the first Phoenix goal in the 79th minute to tie the game at one. 28 minutes later, Carson Jones scored the golden goal to end the game with a 2-1 victory for the Phoenix.
-The win was the first time this season and second time since the 2013 season that the maroon and gold defeated a ranked opponent. The last win came last season against the Pride in the 2020 CAA Championship Semifinals when Hofstra entered the match at No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
-Elon has now won back-to-back matchups against the Pride, improving the all-time record to 2-7-0.
-For her performance against the Tribe and Pride, Dalfonso was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the week. She finished the week with a .929 save percentage, fourteen saves on 30 shots faced and one shutout. The shutout is the 12th of her career, moving her rank up to seventh in program history in the category.    
-The Phoenix is led by fourth-year head coach Neil Payne.
 
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
-The Dukes (7-8-1, 4-3 CAA) are currently tied for third in conference standings, posting wins at Charleston (3-2) and William & Mary (1-0) in its last two matches.
-Amanda Attanasi was a key component of both of the Dukes' wins. The reigning CAA Offensive Player of the Week scored two of the three goals against Charleston (3-2) in addition to delivering the game-winning assist in James Madison's overtime win over the Tribe (1-0).  
-The head coach of the Dukes is Joshua Walters, Sr.
 
SCOUTING DREXEL
-The Dragons (5-7-3, 1-4-2 CAA) enter this week ranked ninth in the conference.
-Drexel is 0-4-1 in its past five matches, with the draw coming against Delaware on Oct. 17 (1-1).
-The last win for the Dragons came against Charleston on Oct. 3 (1-0).
-Prior to facing the Phoenix, Drexel will face Northeastern on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
-The Dragons are led by Ray Goon.
