Women’s Soccer Prepares to Take On Charleston and Towson This Week

ELON, N.C.— Elon University women's soccer will host Charleston in its second and third home matches in a row on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

COVERAGE
Live stats and video will be provided for both matches.
 
THE SERIES
-The Phoenix is 8-10-2 all time against the Cougars, including a 1-0 win this past spring on April 3.
-The maroon and gold is also 3-3-0 against the Tigers, winning two of the past three games.

ABOUT ELON
-Elon stands at 5-4-1 (0-1-1 CAA) on the season.
-The Phoenix registered a 1-1 draw against Delaware in its last match on Sunday, Oct. 3.
-In the 67th minute, Carson Jones found the back of the net for the third time this season to tie the game. McKenna Dalfonso also totaled a season-high six saves, just one shy of her career best.
-The Phoenix is led by fourth-year head coach Neil Payne.
 
SCOUTING CHARLESTON
-The Cougars enter the match with a 1-8-2 (0-2-0 CAA) record, with their only win coming against Appalachian State on Sept. 2 (2-0).
-In its first two Colonial Athletic Association matches, Charleston fell to both William & Mary and Drexel 0-1.  
-The head coach of the Cougars is Christian Michner.
 
SCOUTING TOWSON
-The Tigers currently holds a 6-3-2 (1-1-0 CAA) record, registering its first conference win against William & Mary in its last game on Oct. 3 (3-0) after falling to Hofstra on Sept. 26 (0-2).
-Towson will face Northeastern prior to its game against Elon on Thurs. Oct 7 at 3 p.m.
-The Tigers are led by Katherine Vettori.
 
SENIOR DAY
Prior to the match against Towson, the Phoenix will be recognizing its senior class, Makenzie DePriest-Kessler, Lily Harkes, Sarah Bevington, Kayla Hodges, Abby Fusca, Jasmine Bryant and Samantha Dominguez.

UP NEXT
Elon will travel to Boston, Mass. For a 1 p.m. match against Northeastern on Sunday, Oct. 17.
