Elon Sets Program Record For Points At Schar Center In 107-62 Rout Of Randolph

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball scored its most points at Schar Center in program history, securing a 107-62 victory over Randolph in its home opener on Friday, Nov. 12.
 
The Phoenix set a program record with 20 made threes, tied a program record with 27 assists and had five players score at least 15 points.

THE RUNDOWN
- Elon surged out of the gates, jumping out to a 14-3 lead in the first four minutes of the contest. Zac Ervin sparked the early run, hitting back-to-back threes to open the game. Scores by Torrence Watson, Hunter McIntosh and Sam Sherry pushed the lead to 11-3 before Hunter Woods' first three of the game capped the run and gave the Phoenix an 11-point advantage.
- At the midway point of the first half, Woods dropped off a pretty assist to Michael Graham who threw down the Phoenix's first dunk at Schar Center this season. The play sparked an 8-2 Elon run that culminated in a made layup by Graham. Graham scored six of the eight points during the spurt, with Watson adding a steal and score that helped give Elon a 17-point lead.
- Randolph cut the lead to as little as seven with just over 2 minutes to play in the opening half, but Elon closed the half on another 8-2 run to head into the break ahead 49-36.
- Elon opened the second half on a 14-2 run after two quick scores from McIntosh and Darius Burford, followed by a put-back layup for Graham pushed the lead back to 17. On the next two trips down the court, McIntosh and Watson each drilled triples to extend the Elon advantage to 23. The spurt culminated in a fast-break dunk for Watson that put Elon up 63-38.
- Leading by 29 late in the game, the Phoenix used a 20-2 run to put the game out of reach. Burford got things going with a fast break layup, then Kris Wooten hit his fourth three of the game to put Elon up by 34. On the next trip down the floor, McIntosh drained his third three of the game to extend the lead to 37. After three made free throws by Graham and Woods, Wooten splashed back-to-back threes to give the Phoenix a 100-56 advantage. Sherry and Charlie Mendys capped the night with three makes at the free throw line that put Elon up 103-56 with just over two minutes remaining.

NOTES
- Kris Wooten led the way for the Phoenix, matching a career-high with 18 points and six made threes, adding three assists in 23 minutes of action.
- Hunter McIntosh chipped in 15 points, three assists and two rebounds in a team-high 28 minutes. McIntosh has now scored at least 10 points in 36 of his 55 career games at Elon.
- Hunter Woods dropped 15 points and seven rebounds, while leading the team in assists (5) and blocks (2) in 25 minutes played.
- Torrence Watson and Zac Ervin each scored 15 points, finishing the night a combined 8-of-12 from three.
- Michael Graham followed up his strong game against Florida with a nine points and 10 rebound outing against Randolph on Friday night.
- Darius Burford finished with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and one block on the night.
- Sam Sherry posted a career-best nine points and five assists, also grabbing three rebounds in 21 minutes.
- Elon held Randolph to 30 percent shooting from the floor and 28.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc in the second half.
- The Phoenix held a 45-13 advantge in bench points, a 20-4 advantage in fast breaks and a 30-14 advantage in points in the paint.
- The Phoenix won by at least 40-points for the first time since beating Milligan 95-54 in 2019, Schrage's first year with the program.
- Elon is now 3-0 in home openers under Schrage.
