Women's Tennis Set To Host Radford At The Jimmy Powell Tennis Center On Tuesday

ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis returns to action tomorrow, March 2, when it hosts Radford at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus. That contest is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
 
THE SERIES
- Elon has not lost to Radford since 2000, winning the last 13 meetings to lead the all-time series 13-1.
- The Phoenix defeated Radford, 5-2, in their most recent meeting on Feb. 9, 2019.   
 
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon is off to a 6-2 start to the season after defeating N.C. Central, 6-1, in its most recent outing.
- Freshman Lizette Reding has started the season off hot, going 6-1 through the first seven singles matches she has competed in this season.
- Junior Victoria Saldh is off to a 6-1 start in singles play this season while also posting a 3-0 record in the No. 1 slot.
- Sophomore Sibel Tanik earned her second consecutive singles win against the NCCU, after outlasting Josefa Fernandez, 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 in a three set battle.
- The combination of Lizette Reding and Alison O'Dea is 2-1 in doubles play this season, including winning their first match in the No. 1 doubles slot against NCCU.
- Elon returns six athletes from last year's squad for the 2021 season in Sofia Edo, Olivia Archer, Victoria Saldh, Shauna Galvin, Kiana Rizzolo and Uma Nayar. Elon also added East Carolina transfer Sibel Tanik, as well as freshmen Alison O'Dea and Lizette Reding to the team.
- The Phoenix is led by seventeenth-year head coach Elizabeth Anderson.
 
SCOUTING RADFORD
- Radford is led by head coach Rob Bareford, who is in his first season at the helm of the women's tennis program, despite having been the head coach of the men's tennis program since 2018.
- The Highlanders are off to a 2-0 start to the season after outlasting Towson, 4-3, in its most recent contest.
- Malin Falk is leading the way for Radford, posting a 2-0 record in the No. 1 singles slot, as well as combining with Emily Brandow to post a 2-0 record in No. 2 doubles.

- Elon returns to action on Wednesday, March 3, to take on Appalachian State. That matchup is slated for 2 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
