ELON, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced that seven Elon University women's tennis student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors while the team picked up the All-Academic team award.

The Phoenix received the honor for maintaining a team GPA above a 3.2 for the 2020-2021 academic year. Their 3.637 overall GPA marked the seventh semester with a spring GPA above a 3.5.

Uma Nayar, sophomores
Kiana Rizzolo and
Shauna Galvin, and freshmen
Alison O'Dea and
Lizette Reding garnered Scholar-Athlete honors. The group picked up the distinction for maintaining above a 3.5 GPA for the entire academic year.

On the court, they helped lead Elon to a 17-5 overall record and an appearance in the CAA Tournament semifinals. Collectively, they combined for a total of 56 singles wins and 51 doubles wins throughout the season.

In 2021, a total of 1,505 Division I student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors while 210 women's tennis programs garnered All-Academic Team awards.
