RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University golfer Garrett Risner has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Co-Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 12.
 
Risner won this week's seventh annual Phoenix Invitational at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. The junior from Holly Springs, N.C., set an Elon 54-hole scoring record with a 14-under par 199 to earn his first career win. Risner shot a tournament-best 8-under par 63 in the second round, one shot higher than Elon's lowest round in program history. He finished second in the field for the week in birdies (19) and led the tournament in par-3 scoring average (2.83). 
 
College of Charleston's Kieron van Wyk was named the other Co-Golfer of the Week. He earned co-medalist honors at this week's Bank of Tennessee Invitational in Jonesborough, Tenn. 
 
The Phoenix continues its fall season on Oct. 15-16 at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C.
