RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University golfer Matthew Doyle has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 2.
Doyle earned his best career college finish at the Grandover Collegiate, Elon's final event of the fall, over the weekend, as the sophomore carded three sub-par rounds to place third in the individual standings. His 54-hole score of 208 was the lowest of his career and helped him secure his second career top-five finish. The Summerville, S.C., native tied for the third best par-3 scoring average (2.83) and led Elon in par-5 scoring average (4.50) for the tournament.
This is the second time this season an Elon player has taken home a weekly award, as junior Garrett Risner earned Co-Golfer of the Week honors on Oct. 12 following his victory at the Phoenix Invitational.
