BOSTON, MASS. – Elon University baseball is on the road at Northeastern this weekend for a CAA series against the Huskies (14-14-1, 1-5 CAA). Friday's series opener at Friedman Diamond is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Elon and Northeastern will then play at 1 p.m. on Saturday and again at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

THE SERIES
- Elon leads the all-time series, 10-8.
- This weekend will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2019 as the teams did not play each other in 2021 due to COVID-19.
- The Phoenix has won four straight against the Huskies with all four in the 2019 season.
- Elon swept NU in the regular season, hosting the Huskies for three games at Latham Park on April 26-28.
- The Phoenix took the series opener 6-5, then won again 4-2 that Saturday and 3-0 in the series finale that Sunday.

LAST TIME IN HARRISONBURG
- The last time the programs saw each other was at the 2019 CAA Championship in Harrisonburg, Va. on May 24.
Cam Devanney drove in three runs, belted a two-run home run, and added a pair of doubles to help lead top-seeded Elon to an 8-6 win over fourth-seeded Northeastern.
Tyler Stanley added a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the plate with a run scored. Matt Oldham went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double and Anthony Galason hit 2-for-5 with a double. Ty AdcockNick Cicci, and Adam Spurlin all finished 1-for-4.
Jared Wetherbee (7-4) picked up the win after tallying six punch outs across seven complete innings of work. The left-hander allowed six runs, five of them earned, on seven hits and one walk. Adcock tossed 1.2 scoreless innings to pick up the save, fanning three while giving up two hits and a base on balls.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern came up short against Boston College 4-2 in the 2022 Beanpot semifinals on Tuesday, April 5 at Harrington Athletic Village.
- Northeastern hosted CAA foe William & Mary last weekend, dropping 2-of-3 games to the Tribe. After losses of 6-2 and 4-3, NU took the series finale 3-2 last Sunday.
- Mike Sirota leads the Huskies in batting average (.318), slugging percentage (.495), hits (34), doubles (10), home runs (3), runs (19) and RBIs (18).
- Corey DiLoreto follows Sirota with a .297 average and Luke Beckstein is hitting .270.
- As a team, NU is batting .242 with a .339 slugging percentage and a .330 on-base percentage.
- This weekend will see Sebastian Keane, Wyatt Scotti and Cam Schlitterler starting on the mound.
- Opponents are batting .226 against NU with Husky pitchers owning a combined 3.62 ERA.
- The Huskies rank 17th in the nation in double plays (25) and shutouts (3), 19th in ERA (3.58) and 20th in hits allowed per nine innings (7.56).
- Wyatt Scotti is tied for the national lead with six victories, fifth with 0.75 walks per nine innings and 11th a 10.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
- The defending CAA Champions were picked to repeat in the CAA's Preseason Coaches' Poll with six first-place votes and 62 total points. Cam Schlittler was selected as Co-Preseason Player of the Year alongside UNCW's Brooks Baldwin. Schlittler was joined on the Preseason All-CAA Team by Danny Crossen, Max Viera, Jeff Costello and Sebastian Keane. Additionally, Wyatt Scotti was named an Honorable Mention.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon couldn't overcome a 5-1 deficit as the Phoenix (14-14, 2-4 CAA) dropped its midweek game to Wake Forest, 6-4 on Wednesday at Latham Park.
- Cole Reynolds (0-2) took the loss after giving up four runs on five hits and one walk. The Clayton, Del. native struck out two batters in the three-inning start.
- Charlie Granatell and Connor Coolahan both doubled and hit 1-for-5 in the loss. Granatell drove in one one and Coolahan scored once. Alex Iadisernia (1-for-3) had a run and two walks, Luke Stephenson (1-for-3) came around once and added an RBI, Parker Haskin (1-for-4) drove in one run and Carlos Marte (1-for-4) collected Elon's other hit.
- Iadisernia is leading the team in batting average (.369), slugging percentage (.641), hits (38), doubles (10), triples (3) and RBIs (31).
- Granatell is next for the Phoenix with a .326 clip and Coolahan is hitting .302.
- Elon owns a combined average of .247 with a .383 slugging percentage and a .368 on-base percentage.
- On the bump this weekend will be Spencer Bauer, Brian Edgington and Shea Sprague.
- Elon pitchers have registered 242 strikeouts with 66 walks through 250 innings this season and own a team ERA of 4.28. Opposing teams are batting .289 against them.
- The maroon and gold is currently third in walks allowed per nine innings (2.38), fourth in double plays (28), seventh in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.67), 10th in double plays per game (1.00), 12th in sacrifice flies (18) and 14th in sacrifice bunts (20).
- Iadisernia ranks seventh nationally in sac flies (5) and 21st in triples, Carlos Marte is 16th in sac bunts per game (0.24) and 30th in sac bunts (5), Charlie Granatell ranks 23rd in sac flies (4), and Connor Coolahan is 26th in on-base percentage (.511). Brian Edgington and Joe Savino are both 24th in games started (7).

UP NEXT
Elon returns to Latham Park next Tuesday, April 12 for the second game in a home-and-home series versus East Carolina. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
