TUCSON, Ariz. – Elon University baseball's
Shea Sprague added another accolade to his resume on Wednesday, June 8 as he was named a 2022 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American, powered by Diamond Sports.
The CAA's Co-Rookie of the Year as well as a First and All-Rookie Team selection, the freshman from Hanover, Mass. finished his first year at Elon with a 6-3 record and a 1.89 ERA, good for second in the league and 10th in the nation. The left hander recorded 41 strikeouts, issued 13 walks and held opponents to a .215 batting average through 10 starts, 19 appearances and 62.0 innings pitched. His efforts contributed to shutouts of High Point, Northeastern and Delaware and he earned CAA Weekly honors three times: Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 4 and Co-Rookie of the Week on April 11 and May 9.
This is the second straight season a Phoenix has been named a Freshman All-American as
Alex Iadisernia earned the distinction in 2021.
