Josh Hexter has announced a quartet of team captains for the 2023 season. Seniors
Julia Dalmass and
Ellie Stricker, and juniors
Kailee Follette and
Mikaela Buoscio have earned captain status for the squad.
"I am so thankful for this group of captains," Hexter said. "Each of them brings something a little different to the table in their leadership styles, but all of them have the same fire and passion to want to be great, and will accept nothing short of the effort it takes to do that."
2023 ELON LACROSSE SCHEDULE
Dalmass will be a team captain for the second consecutive season and has started all 33 of Elon's contests over the past three years. She has 22 career caused turnovers, 32 career ground balls and 25 career draw controls. She will be an anchor on the defense again in 2023.
Also a defender, Stricker stepped into a larger role in 2022, playing in 15 games and starting 14 times. She had 15 ground balls and seven caused turnovers during the season, ranking among the top six on the team in both categories. She led the team with five grounds balls and two caused turnovers against a ranked Vanderbilt squad.
Follette has played in all 28 games over the past two seasons, starting 27 times in the defense and midfield. She led the squad in 2022 with 26 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. She added seven draw controls as well.
Playing out of the midfield, Buoscio has experience in 25 contests over the past two seasons, starting four times. She had three goals and three assists in 2022, going 2-for-2 on free position shots. She added nine ground balls, 12 draw controls and four caused turnovers.
Elon lacrosse opens the 2023 season on Feb. 11 as the Phoenix hosts Old Dominion at 12:00 p.m. Elon's first three contests are at home as the team hosts Queens on Feb. 15 at 5:00 p.m. and VCU on Feb. 18 at 12:00 p.m. CAA play begins March 18 at Monmouth at 11:00 a.m. and the CAA Tournament will take place May 5 and 7.
