Elon Heads To Campbell, Hosts Stanford

Phoenix Set For Two-Game Weekend

ELON – The Elon women's lacrosse team (6-6, 2-2 CAA) is set for a two-game weekend, beginning Friday at Campbell (9-5, 0-4 CAA) before a Sunday test against No. 12 Stanford (11-2) at Rudd Field.

The Matchups
  • Elon holds a 7-1 lead in the all-time series against Campbell. The Phoenix has won all seven matchups against the Camels since losing to Campbell in its inaugural season of 2014.
  • The Phoenix has won three straight trips to Buies Creek, including a 16-12 victory in 2024.
  • Last season, Elon defeated Campbell 13-10 at Rudd Field. Lillian Austin and Ana Lee Vandiver both netted hat tricks to pace Elon's offense as Elon sprinted out to an 8-1 lead in the first half.
  • Elon lost its lone meeting against Stanford in 2018. The Cardinal defeated the Phoenix at Rudd, 17-10.

 
About The Phoenix
  • The Phoenix is 6-6 this season and 2-2 in CAA play after a 9-4 win against William & Mary on Senior Day over the weekend. 
  • Elon was tabbed to finish fourth in the CAA preseason poll behind just Stony Brook, Drexel and Towson.
  • Seven Phoenix have reached double-digit points on the season – Ana Lee Vandiver (32), Anna Hackett (29), Lizzie Scalzo (25), Lillian Austin (19), Mackenzie Coleman (13), Danielle Swietoniowski (12), and Maddie Engelkraut (10). 
  • Vandiver and Hackett both reached 100 career points last week, becoming the seventh and eighth Phoenix to do so, respectively.
  • MJ Santa Barbara is second in the CAA with 6.00 draw controls per game. Santa Barbara surpassed 300 draw controls earlier this season, extending her all-time program record in career draw controls.
  • Reagan Kuehn is pacing the Phoenix defense and ranks top 10 in the CAA in both ground balls per game (2.25) and caused turnovers per game (1.58).
  • Eliza Ritter (1.50) and Jessie Penner (1.33) are also top 10 in the conference in caused turnovers per game.
  • Caitlin Walsh has anchored Elon's net this season, starting all nine games. She surpassed 400 career saves on March 23 in Elon's game against No. 16 Duke.
  • Elon is led by head coach Josh Hexter, who is in his 13th season with the program. He has guided the Phoenix since its inaugural campaign in 2014 and is up to 93 wins leading the maroon and gold.
 
 
Last Time Out
  • Elon picked up a 9-4 victory over William & Mary on Senior Day over the weekend to improve to 2-2 in CAA play this season.
  • The Phoenix limited William & Mary to just four goals and 11 shots. It was the fewest goals and shots Elon has allowed against a CAA opponent since 2017.
  • Elon held the Tribe scoreless for over 43 minutes of game time between their third and fourth goals. The Phoenix went on a season-best 8-0 scoring run during that stretch to take control of the contest.
  • Hackett netted a pair of goals to reach 100 career points. Austin and Scalzo both netted two goals of their own.
  • Penner scored the first goal of her Elon career in the third quarter, becoming the first Elon defender to score since Bridget Lamb in 2018.
  • Elon caused 17 of William & Mary's 22 giveaways, with both Mimi Economus and Ritter forcing a team-high four.
  • The Phoenix went 4-of-8 on its free position opportunities, with both of Scalzo's goals coming on eight-meter chances.
  • This was Elon's first CAA game decided by more than one goal this season
 
 
ACC Opportunities
  • The game against the Cardinal will be Elon's final of four games against ACC opponents this season.
  • Elon challenged Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Feb. 27, taking a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter before the Hokies stormed back to win, 17-13.
  • The Phoenix then hosted No. 11 Notre Dame on March 10, falling 16-5 to the Fighting Irish after holding them to just six first-half goals.
  • On March 23, Elon took No. 16 Duke to the wire at Rudd, tying the game at 12-12 early in the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils scored four of the game's final five goals to stave off the Phoenix, 17-13.
  • Elon will round out its ACC slate Sunday when it welcomes No. 12 Stanford to Rudd.
  • This is Elon's first time facing four ACC teams in a single season since 2019, when the Phoenix took on Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
  • Elon has three victories over current ACC teams, with one each against Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
 
 
Hack Is Back
  • Hackett became the eighth player in Elon history to reach 100 career points Saturday against William & Mary, reaching the milestone with her second goal of the game.
  • After missing last season due to injury, Hackett made her first appearance since April 14, 2024, in Elon's season opener at Queens on Feb. 11, starting in Elon's midfield and finishing with two goals and four points against the Royals.
  • Hackett notched hat tricks in four straight games earlier this season against Old Dominion, East Carolina, Virginia Tech and High Point. The redshirt junior's six hat tricks are the most on the Phoenix.
  • Hackett's .553 shot percentage is the best on the team. The attacker has attempted the second most shots (47) among Phoenix players.
  • Hackett leads the Phoenix with 26 goals this season and her 29 points are second to only Vandiver.   
  • Hackett's 26 goals this season have also moved her up to fifth in program history in career goals (90). She is just one behind Sloane Kessler for the fourth most. 
  • With 2.17 goals per game, Hackett currently ranks sixth among CAA scorers.
 
 
Ana Lee-ding The Way
  • Vandiver leads the Phoenix with 32 points this season (21, 11a) and is second on the team in goals behind only Hackett.
  • On March 31 against VCU, Vandiver became the seventh Phoenix to surpass 100 career points. She had six points against the Rams (3g, 3a) to match her season-best scoring output.  
  • Vandiver is up to 102 career points, the sixth most in program history.
  • Vandiver's 11 assists this season are the most on the team. She has an assist in eight of 12 games this season.
  • Vandiver had her best goal scoring outing of the season against High Point on March 5, netting five goals, one shy of her career best. The five goals against the Panthers were tied with Scalzo for the most by a Phoenix in a game this season.
  • Vandiver has three five-plus point games this season, as she also had a three-goal, two-assist outing against Old Dominion.
  • With five hat tricks this season, Vandiver is just one behind Hackett for the most on the Phoenix. Elon is 4-1 this season when Vandiver scores three or more goals.
  • The attacker leads the Phoenix with 52 shot attempts this season, the ninth most in the conference.
 
 
Mack Attack
  • Coleman has blossomed into a dynamic scoring threat for the Phoenix in recent weeks, netting all 13 of her goals this season in the last eight games.
  • The junior had hat tricks in consecutive games against Monmouth (March 20) and No. 16 Duke (March 23), the first time in her career she netted three or more goals in consecutive outings.
  • Coleman's three goals in the win over Monmouth on March 20 were her most against a CAA opponent. She tied Scalzo for the team lead in Elon's conference victory over the Hawks.
  • With a goal against William & Mary, Coleman extended her scoring streak to a career-best eight games, surpassing her previous best stretch of seven from 2024.
  • Six of Coleman's 13 goals this season have come in CAA games as she is second to only Scalzo among Elon goal scorers in conference play.  
  • Coleman's current eight-game goal scoring streak is the longest on the Phoenix.
 
 
 
Sophomore Scoring Duo
  • Austin and Swietoniowski are both building on strong rookie campaigns in their sophomore seasons this spring.
  • The sophomores are two of seven Elon players to reach double-digit points this season.
  • Austin has scored a goal in all 10 games she has appeared in this season has netted multiple goals on five occasions, including last time out against William & Mary.
  • Austin is fourth on the Phoenix in both points (19) and goals (15). Six of Austin's goals have come in CAA play, including two-goal outings against Hofstra and William & Mary. 
  • Swietoniowski was the only Phoenix to score a goal in Elon's first six games this season, racking up 12 points in those contests. The sophomore netted a hat trick in a win against Old Dominion on Feb. 14.
  • Austin is tied with Engelkraut, Hackett and Scalzo for a team-best four free position goals, with Swietoniowski (3) close behind.
  • Austin's 15 points in CAA play last season were tied for the third most by an Elon freshman in a single season, while Swietoniowski was close behind with 13 points in conference games.
  • Austin and Swietoniowski both registered six assists in CAA play, tied for the third most in a conference season by freshmen in program history.
  • Both Swietoniowski (22) and Austin (21) surpassed 20 points in their freshman seasons and were two of seven Phoenix to do so in 2025.
 

MJ The History Maker
  • Entering her junior season, Santa Barbara was already Elon's all-time leader in career draw controls and has re-written the Phoenix record books in several categories.
  • With 332 career draw controls in her 40 career games, Santa Barbara is 137 clear of second place in program history. She has the top two single season draw control totals in program history with 151 in 2024 and 109 in 2025.
  • She has also set the top two marks in program history for draw controls in a conference season, with 73 in CAA games in 2024 and 72 in 2025. The next highest total in a season is 35.
  • With Santa Barbara on the draw, Elon has set new team records for draw controls in a season. The Phoenix secured a program-record 283 draw controls in 2024, Santa Barbara's freshman campaign, before accruing 255 in 2025, Santa Barbara's sophomore campaign. Those are the top two totals in program history, smashing the previous record of 231 set in 2022.
  • Santa Barbara has also turned in the top five single game draw control efforts in program history, highlighted by her program-best 16 last season against Queens.
  • Santa Barbara's 9.29 career draw controls per game were the third most in NCAA history entering this season.
  • Santa Barbara has secured double-digit draw controls in 15-of-40 career games.
  • The junior is second in the CAA this season with 6.00 draw controls per game. She recently scooped 10 draw controls March 31 at VCU as the Phoenix secured a season-best 16 as a team. 
  • In addition to her prowess in the draw circle, Santa Barbara has become a steady scoring threat in 2026. The junior scored a goal in each of Elon's first four games this season, the longest goal-scoring streak of her career.
 
 
Chaos Coordinators
  • Elon's defensive corps of Kuehn, Eliza Ritter, Mimi Economus and Jessie Penner have wreaked havoc on opposing offenses this season.
  • Kuehn leads the Phoenix with 19 caused turnovers, with Ritter (18) and Penner (16) and Economus (10) all in double-digits.
  • Ritter took home CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after forcing four turnovers in the win against William & Mary. She also caused three VCU giveaways on March 31.
  • Economus tied Ritter with a team-best four caused turnovers against William & Mary, the most in a game in her career. She also matched a season-high with four ground balls against the Tribe.
  • Kuehn and Penner have both surpassed 50 caused turnovers this season. Kuehn is third in program history with 66 caused turnovers, with Penner's 56 ranking fifth in Phoenix history. 
  • Ritter has forced 10 turnovers in Elon's last five games after going four straight outings prior without one. She has led the Phoenix in caused turnovers in each of the last two outings.  
  • Kuehn is pacing the Phoenix with 27 ground balls. The junior has moved up Elon's all-time ranks in ground balls this season, as she is now fifth in program history with 95. 
  • Penner is also top 10 in Elon's history with 75 ground balls. She is just one away from surpassing Quinn Daly for eighth in the program's all-time standings.
  • Penner became the first Elon defender to score in a game since Bridget Lamb in 2018 with her goal against William & Mary.
  • Economus has already set new career highs in both caused turnovers (10) and ground balls (14).
  • Elon has allowed just 122 goals this season, the second fewest among CAA teams. Only Stony Brook (107) has conceded fewer.
 
 
Sensational Scalzo
  • In her freshman campaign, Scalzo is third on the Phoenix with 25 points (17g, 8a).
  • Scalzo leads the Phoenix with 10 points in three CAA games. No other Elon player has more than seven points in conference play.
  • The freshman's eight assists are the second most on the team to Vandiver. The rookie has multiple assists on three occasions this season.
  • Scalzo matched her career high with five points in Elon's CAA victory against Monmouth on March 20. The freshman had three goals, including the game winner, to go along with a pair of assists.
  • The rookie tied for a game-high five goals in her collegiate debut on Feb. 11 against Queens. The freshman scored a first-half hat trick before scoring two more goals, including the game winner, after the break.
  • Scalzo became the first Elon freshman to score five goals in her debut game since Stephanie Asher also scored five on Jan. 31, 2015, against Kennesaw State.
  • The five goals by the rookie were also the most by any Phoenix freshman in a game since Vandiver had six against VCU on Feb. 17, 2024, as a redshirt freshman and the most by an Elon true freshman since Margaret Stephan netted five against Radford on March 7, 2021.
  • The freshman has points in nine of 12 games this season, only being held scoreless in Elon's games against ACC opponents. 
  • Scalzo is coming off the third hat trick of her rookie season on March 31 as she had four points (3g, 1a) in a win at VCU.
 
 
Brick Wall-sh
  • Walsh has become a mainstay in net for the Phoenix, starting 58 career games in four seasons with the program, including each of the last 54 contests. 
  • Walsh became the second goalie in program history to surpass 400 career saves on March 23 against Duke, joining Rachel Ramirez.
  • Walsh has made 100-plus saves in each of her first three seasons with the Phoenix and ranks second in program history in career saves (421).
  • The senior was named to the All-CAA Tournament Team last season. She made a season-high 12 saves in the CAA semifinals against Stony Brook.
  • Walsh earned her first CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor last season on April 21 for her 10 saves and seven ground balls in wins against Towson and Queens.
  • Walsh is second in program history with 26 career victories.
  • Walsh has 74 saves this season and made a season-best 11 stops against No. 11 Notre Dame on March 10.
 
 
Scouting Campbell
  • Campbell enters Friday's contest with a 9-5 overall record and an 0-4 mark in CAA play.
  • The Camels won eight straight games after dropping its season opener but have won just one game since March 8.
  • Campbell has dropped CAA games to Hofstra, Towson, Stony Brook and Monmouth.
  • The Camels have scored 172 goals this season, second to only Stony Brook among CAA teams.
  • McKenna Duncan leads the Camels with 46 points this season and has an even split between goals and assists with 23 of each. She is fourth in the CAA in assists per game (1.60).
  • Paige White and Caroline Laur are pacing the Camels with 26 goals apiece. White is second to Duncan with 11 assists.
  • Defensively, Hailey Kohlmann leads Campbell and ranks second in the CAA with 41 caused turnovers. Kendall Wilson is a close second with 35 caused turnovers of her own.
  • Kohlmann also leads the Camels with 37 ground balls, followed by Wilson's 30.
  • Drew Watkins has 70 draw controls to lead Campbell. She ranks third in the CAA with 5.38 draw controls per game.
  • Campbell leads all CAA teams with 166 caused turnovers this season. The Camels also lead the conference with 179 draw controls and 250 ground balls.
  • Adria Welsh has started all 14 games in goal for Campbell, making 104 saves with a .430 save percentage.
  • Dawn Easley is in her 13th season as Campbell's head coach.
 
 
Scouting No. 12 Stanford
  • Stanford currently has an 11-2 record this season and is ranked No. 12 in the current coaches poll. The Cardinal will face No. 2 North Carolina on Friday before coming to Rudd.
  • The Cardinal is 5-2 away from home this season, with its losses coming at Boston College and Villanova.
  • Stanford has ranked wins this season over Duke, Notre Dame, Virginia, Syracuse and Clemson.
  • Stanford has a pair of 30-goal scorers this season – Aliya Polisky (31) and Ava Arceri (30). Polisky leads the Cardinal with 50 points.
  • Mallory Hasselbeck has 41 points on the season, one more than Arceri. Hasselbeck's 21 assists are the most on the Cardinal.
  • Polisky is tied for second on Stanford in assists with Martha Oakey, who also has 19 helpers.
  • Stanford boasts the No. 10 scoring defense in the country, allowing just 7.85 goals per contest.
  • Kate Bellissimo (26) and Rylee Bouvier (25) are pacing Stanford in caused turnovers. Four more Cardinal have caused double-digit turnovers on the campaign.
  • Bellissimo also leads Stanford with 35 ground balls. Kaleigh Sommers (28) and Bouvier (23) have also surpassed 20 ground balls.
  • Annabel Frist (52) and Jordyn Case (49) are Stanford's leaders in draw controls this season.
  • Lucy Pearson and Ella Morton have both started in goal for Stanford this season, with Morton starting the last game against Louisville. Pearson is 9-0 on the season and has a .427 save percentage, while Morton has a .447 save percentage in seven appearances.
  • Stanford is led by seventh-year head coach Danielle Spencer.
