SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team maintained its spot on the leaderboard on Tuesday at the Ross Collegiate Classic, as the Phoenix tied for third place. George Mason hosted the tournament at the par-72, 6,713-yard Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. 

FULL RESULTS
 
Elon posted a 13-over par 301 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 868. South Florida won the event with a 15-under 849 and Loyola Maryland came in second with a 5-under par 859.
 
Matthew Doyle paced the Phoenix on the week, tying for seventh with a 2-under par 214. Juan Callejo Ropero also earned a top 10 finish, as the sophomore carded a 1-under 215.
 
THE HIGHLIGHTS
 

• Matthew Doyle earned his fourth top 10 finish of the season as the sophomore tied for seventh. He fired a 1-over par 73 in the final round, making two birdies on the front nine. Doyle led Elon in par-4 scoring average for the week (4.00). 
• With a solo 10th place finish, Juan Callejo Ropero earned his second top 10 of the season. Ropero made two birdies in the final round and his par-3 scoring average of 2.75 was tied for the best in the field. 
• Garrett Risner made his tournament-best third eagle of the week on the par-5 fifth hole on his way to a tie for 18th place. 
• Bronson Myers made two birdies on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 47th place. He led the Phoenix and ranked No. 4 in the field for the week in par-5 scoring average (4.33). 
• Freshman Oliver Rotermund made a team-high three birdies in the final round to shoot a 3-over par 75, securing a tie for 57th place. 
• As a team, Elon ranked No. 2 for the week in both par-3 scoring average (3.13) and par-5 scoring average (4.63).
• The Phoenix led the field with 171 pars and tied with South Florida for a tournament-best five eagles. 

 
UP NEXT
The Phoenix will take a week off before teeing it up at the Aggie Invitational in Greensboro on March 27-28.
