Tanner Holliman has been named CAA Baseball Co-Player of the Week, while freshman pitcher/infielder
Ryan Sprock has been named CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
Holliman kept his hot bat going this week, extending his hitting streak to eight games and raising his batting average to .288. He contributed to Elon's highest four-game scoring output since 2010, batting .438 (7-for-16) with a double, two homers, nine runs and seven RBI. He now leads the CAA in home runs with six and has clubbed five homers in the last six games.
Sprock repeated as CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week after another big week at the plate and on the mound. He finished the week batting .500 (4-for-8) with three homers, adding five runs and eight RBI to his totals. He started Friday off by hitting two home runs in the 12-5 victory against Monmouth. On Saturday, Sprock threw 6.0 shutout innings, giving up no runs and striking out seven batters in Elon's 12-1 win over the Hawks. This is now Sprock's third CAA Rookie of the Week award.
The Morristown, N.J. native currently stands third in the conference in ERA, sixth in innings pitched, and second in strikeouts. At the plate, Sprock is fourth in the CAA in slugging percentage at .706 and ranks top ten in home runs with four.
Elon Baseball is 5-1 in conference play this season after sweeping Monmouth over the weekend. The Phoenix will travel to Wake Forest on Tuesday for a midweek contest against the Demon Deacons. Following that game, Elon will host Delaware this weekend for a three-game series at Latham Park.
