Richmond, Va. – Elon University freshman pitcher
Justin Mitrovich has been named The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the Week.
Mitrovich allowed just three singles over 7.0 scoreless innings, stricking out a career-high eight batters with no walks in Elon's 1-0 series-sweeping victory over Delaware Sunday. The freshman right-hander retired 14 straight batters at one point and did not allow a runner past second base as Elon won its eighth straight league game. Mitrovich improved to 3-2 with a 2.08 ERA.
Among CAA pitchers, Mitrovich currently ranks third in ERA, tied for fourth in wins, eighth in innings pitched, and ninth in opposing batting average and strikeouts. Mitrovich boasts a 0.53 ERA in conference only games, striking out 17 batters in 17 innings.
