Elon, N.C.- Junior Ben Simon of the Elon University baseball team was selected to the 2023 Academic All-District Team as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday, May 16.
 
Simon, an applied mathematics major with a minor in computer science was the lone member of the baseball program selected for this honor. The junior right-hander has a GPA of 3.617 while also tallying the third most saves in the CAA this season with six.
 
The East Windsor, N.J. native collected saves against Kentucky and No.2 Wake Forest earlier this season, the two schools make up the top-two in this week's RPI rankings. Simon also made an appearance in another top-10 Elon victory over Campbell when he threw 1.1 innings of no-run ball and collected two strikeouts. Simon has struck out 28 batters over 21.2 innings pitched this season while walking just six batters.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 6.
