BURLINGTON, N.C. – The
Elon women's golf team combined for a 10-over par 578 to finish second in the team standings after day one of the Elon Invitational on Monday.
Annabelle Ackroyd and
Ashley Lafontaine are in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard and
Lotte Fox is tied for 18th place.
HIGHLIGHTS
- After an opening round 70, Annabelle Ackroyd carded an even par 71 in the second round and is tied for third in the individual standings. The graduate student's six birdies were a team-high and she is tied for a team-high 25 pars.
- Ashley Lafontaine posted the low score of the day for the Phoenix with a 69 in the second round, highlighted by an ace on hole 16. She is only one of two golfers in the field to ace a hole in the tournament. She also made two birdies. The sophomore is tied for seventh in the individual standings.
- Lotte Fox improved her first-round score of 75 by four strokes, shooting an even 71 in the second round to move into a tie for 18th on the individual leaderboard. The senior made 24 pars and four birdies on the day.
- Rounds of 72 and 76 have Annie Wu in a tie for 28th in the individual standings. She carded three birdies and tied the team-high with 25 pars.
- Andrea Asmundsdottir shot rounds of 75 and 77 to stand tied for 49th place after the first two rounds.
- After an opening round of 79, Charlotte Scully shaved off five strokes in the second round to card a 74 and tie for 53rd.
- Sakura Kawakami made two birdies in the second round as an individual to finish tied for 66th place on the leaderboard.
- As an individual, Apple Ngamwong shot rounds of 80 and 79 on day one to sit in a tie for 70th. The senior finished the day with two birdies and 16 pars.
- As a team, Elon had one eagle, 27 birdies and 177 pars.
UP NEXT
The Invitational concludes tomorrow with the third and final round. Play will begin with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. and running through 10:20 a.m.
