ELON, N.C. – For the first time in school history, the Elon University women's cross country team is receiving votes in the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Poll as released on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The Phoenix received two votes in the national rankings released on Tuesday, its first known votes in the USTFCCCA national poll during its Division I era. Regionally, Elon sits seventh in the Southeast Region, improving two spots from the previous week.
Elon is coming off a 13
th-place standing out of 23 teams at the Virginia Invitational last Saturday, Sept. 23. The reigning four-time CAA champions had several runners post new personal-best times in the 5K race including sophomore
Katie Blount's time of 17:06.9, which moves her into the program's top-10 performance list.
The maroon and gold harriers are back on the course this Saturday, Sept. 30, racing at the Winthrop adidas Invitational.
