Elon Track & Field Concludes Weekend At Liberty

Lynchburg, Va. – The Elon University indoor track & field team posted numerous career and season-bests Saturday on the final day of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, hosted by Liberty University. Included among the strong performances were Jette Beermann in the mile, Piper Jons in the 200, Sarah Petitjean in the 1,000 and Emily Alps in the 500.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Jette Beermann, the defending CAA champion in the mile, placed second in the invite section of the event with a career-best time of 4:43.87. That time was more than three seconds faster than her previous PR and is No. 2 in school history.
  • Piper Jons ran 24.34 seconds in the invite section of the 200 for a season-best time, ranking among the CAA leaders in the event. Teammate Meghan Wilcox also ran a season-best time in the 200 at 25.10 seconds.
  • Sarah Petitjean ran the 1,000 in 2:57.13, sixth-fastest in school history.
  • Emily Alps ran the 500 in 1:18.41 to rank No. 8 in program history in the event.
  • Also in the 500, Alison Hodgson's time of 1:18.76 broke into the top ten list at No. 10.
  • Quinn Smith won the open section of the mile, with a personal best time of 5:02.38.
  • In the 1,000, Julia Bell set a personal best time of 2:59.97.
  • In the 200, Mya Lee had a career-best time of 26.45 seconds.
