RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men's golfer Matthew Doyle has been named the CAA Co-Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 14.    

 

Doyle was Elon's top finisher at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate, posting two rounds of 5-under par 67 to tie for seventh in a field of 99 players with a 54-hole total of 208 (-8). The junior was 1-under par through his first nine holes in the final round before carding an eagle and two additional birdies with no bogeys on the back nine. He was the only Elon golfer to record an eagle in all three rounds of the tournament. Doyle tied for the lead in the field in par-scoring average at 2.83 and paced the Phoenix in birdies with 14 and par-5 scoring average at 4.17. 
 

This is Doyle's first golfer of the week honor this year and fourth of his career. The Summerville, S.C. native has placed in the top-10 twice so far this year and helped the team to its second top-10 finish this spring.  
 

The maroon and gold take a break before returning to the course at the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Ala. on Mar. 11-12.
