FROM HEAD COACH DON HILL
This week was an absolute battle. I can't recall an individual medalist shooting 5 over par in a final round and still winning. Not to mention, the number 1 ranked team in the country shooting 16 over par at home and winning. Those numbers really speak to how good our guys played in round 1 to co-lead the tournament and then to bounce back with the low final round of the tournament to cap off a top-3 team finish.
Garrett has been excellent all year. To see Bronson get rewarded for his hard work is so satisfying as a coach. He's dedicated himself at a new level this year and specifically this semester. I really like where we're headed as a team and I'm excited to see how we can build off our play this week.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Garrett Risner and Bronson Myers led the team shooting rounds of 71, 76 and 77 to tie for 10th at 224 (+8). Myers shot his lowest round of the tournament with a 71 (-1) carding three birdies to offset two bogeys in the final round to move up 19 spots in the individual standings. Risner and Myers tied for the team-lead in par-5 scoring average (4.83).
- Matthew Doyle carded a 76 (+4) in the final round to move up six spots on the leaderboard finishing tied for 32nd place. He tied for the lead in the field in pars with 41. Doyle along with Myers tied for the team-lead in par-3 scoring average at 3.17.
