ABOUT THE PHOENIX
  • Elon is coming off a 16-7 season that included a trip to the semifinals of the CAA Tournament.
  • The Phoenix returns five players from last year's squad, headlined by Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding, who both earned All-CAA honors in singles and doubles last season. Tanik and Reding formed a dynamic doubles duo, going 12-6 in the No. 1 position, and combined for 24 singles victories in the top three spots.
  • Also returning for the Phoenix are sophomores Helen Sarikulaya and Madison Cordisco. Sarikulaya won 12 doubles and 11 singles matches last season and earned two CAA Doubles Team of the Week honors. Cordisco also reached double-digit wins in doubles, earning 11 victories playing the Nos. 2 and 3 spots.
  • Miray Konar is also back for her second season with the Phoenix. Konar went 8-1 in 2022 playing Nos. 5 and 6 singles and added nine doubles victories.
  • New to the Phoenix this season are freshmen Simone Bergeron, Ella Suk and Mariana Reding, the younger sister of Lizette Reding
  • Elon is led by head coach Elizabeth Anderson, who is in her 20th season at the helm of the program.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Elon defeated Campbell 6-1 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center for its second victory of the season against a CAA opponent.
  • The Phoenix won a competitive doubles point with a decisive victory at the No. 1 spot.
  • The Camels won the first match to finish on Court 3 before Madison Cordisco and Mariana Reding answered with a 6-1 victory for Elon on Court 2.
  • On Court 1, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding went behind early. However, in a match that featured 10 breaks of serve in 12 games, Elon's top duo rallied late to win 7-5, breaking serve in the final game to secure the doubles point for the maroon and gold. It was their 31st victory as a tandem.
  • The doubles point was Elon's fifth straight and ninth in the last 10 matches. The Phoenix has lost just one doubles point during its winning streak.
  • Playing the No. 3 spot, Mariana Reding posted Elon's first singles victory of the day, as she defeated Campbell's Tamsin Hart 6-2, 6-4. It was the freshman's team-best 11th win of the season and her ninth straight.
  • Helen Sarikulaya extended a significant winning streak of her own on Court 5, as the sophomore delivered her eighth straight victory by defeating Mariana Ossa 7-6 (5), 6-2.
  • Making her second appearance of the season at No. 2 singles, Tanik secured the winning point for the Phoenix by coming from behind to beat Eeva Ristola 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The senior broke serve in the final game to polish off the victory. It was her second win of the season after losing the opening set and the ninth in her Elon tenure.
  • Just after Tanik's dramatic win, her doubles partner capped off another Phoenix win on the court beside her. Lizette Reding tallied the 49th win of her singles career with a 7-5, 7-5 triumph against Mialy Ranaivo on Court 1. It was the senior's 10th singles victory this season, marking her fourth consecutive campaign with double-digit singles wins.
  • Freshman Simone Bergeron forged a three-set battle on Court 6 and ultimately prevailed 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4 over Lena Karlovcan. Bergeron improved to 6-0 on the season in singles with the win.

HANG TEN
  • Elon has won 10 consecutive matches, as Wednesday's win over Campbell secured the program's third double-digit match winning streak in its Division I era.
  • Since defeating Norfolk State on Feb. 10, the Phoenix has added wins against Gardner-Webb, Shaw, Hampton, Appalachian State, Davidson, Fairfield, Methodist, Salem and Campbell. Nine of the 10 wins have come at home.
  • During its winning streak, the Phoenix has collected 59 of 65 possible points.
  • Elon is 25-6 in completed doubles matches during the winning streak, amounting to a 81% winning percentage.
  • Elon is also 51-5 in completed singles contests during its winning streak, with six of eight players recording four or more victories during that stretch. Every player on the team has won at least two singles bouts during the streak.
  • This is Elon's third winning streak of at least 10 matches in its Division I history.
  • The Phoenix can match its longest winning streak in its Division I history with a win Friday. Elon won 11 and 10 matches in a row in two different streaks during the 2013 season.
