RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women's tennis senior
Lizette Reding was named CAA Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday as the conference unveiled its weekly awards.
Reding won two matches over the weekend for the Phoenix at No. 1 singles. The senior clinched a 5-2 Elon victory over CAA opponent UNCW with a 7-5, 7-5 win against Eda Arli to improve to 3-0 on the season against conference foes. Then, against No. 67 VCU, Reding came from a set down to beat Yelizaveta Karlova 5-7, 6-4, 4-1, ret.
The singles wins were the 51
st and 52
nd of Reding's career, respectively. The senior has now climbed into sixth place on Elon's all-time Division I singles wins list. Her 13 singles victories lead the team as she is now 7-1 playing the No. 1 spot.
This is the fourth CAA weekly honor for Reding this season, as she earned CAA Player of the Week on Jan. 23 and has taken home CAA Double Team of the Week with
Sibel Tanik on both Jan. 23 and March 26. The senior is now up to nine career CAA weekly awards, seven of which have come in the last two seasons.
Elon returns to the courts on Saturday for a critical CAA clash against William & Mary. The contest in Williamsburg will begin at 1 p.m.
