RICHMOND, VA. – Two members of the Elon University men's golf team were selected to All-CAA teams as the league announced its postseason awards on Friday.
 
Junior Garrett Risner was named to the All-CAA First Team and freshman Jack Wieler to All-CAA second team. This is the second consecutive season since joining the CAA that Elon has had multiple selections to postseason all-conference teams. Risner and Wieler were Elon's two top-5 finishers at the CAA Championship where they were named to the All-Tournament Team helping the team finish runner-up.
 
Risner led the Phoenix this season with four top-5 finishes, six top-10 finishes and earned two CAA Men's Golfer of the Week selections this season. His best finishes of the season came at the Allstate Streamsong Invitational, Phoenix Invitational and CAA Championship where he placed third. His 12-under par performance at the CAA Championship was the best score in tournament history by a non-medalist. The Holly Springs, N.C. native finished the year with a team-best 71.50 scoring average in 32 rounds, 13 rounds in the 60s and tied for a team-high 20 rounds of par or better. This is the third straight year Risner has earned All-CAA postseason honors.
 
Wieler's season was highlighted by a solo third place finish at the Cutter Creek Invitational. The freshman shot his lowest round score of the season with a 66 (-6) in the second round where he would go onto win CAA Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance. Wieler posted two-top five finishes, four-top-10 finishes and tied with Risner for a team-best 20 rounds of par or better. The Waxhaw, N.C., native's seven rounds in the 60s this season and his 72.19 scoring average both ranked second for the Phoenix.
 
UNCW's Walker Isley was named Golfer of the Year, Campbell's Erik Johansson was tabbed Rookie of the Year and College of Charleston's Mitch Krywulycz was selected as Coach of the Year.
