Men’s Golf Wins Elon Phoenix Invitational Title

Elon, Landon Durham Set Tournament, Program Records In Home Victory

BURLINGTON – Elon set a men's golf program and tournament record with a 34-under-par 818 to win the 10th annual Elon Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday at Alamance Country Club. Senior golfer Landon Durham won individual medalist honors as he shot a program individual 54-hole record 196 (70-63-63) to outpace the 93-man field by six strokes.

Elon (282-268-268) entered the final round in a two-team battle with CAA counterpart UNCW – the Phoenix trailed the Seahawks by three strokes after 36 holes – but eliminated any drama with a second straight 16-under 268 to win the tournament by six shots. The Phoenix shot a staggering 10-under on the back nine holes of the third round to seal the win.

The 34-under-par 818 surpassed Elon's previous low 54-hole record of 821, set at the 2021 Phoenix Invitational. It was the Phoenix's fifth win at its home tournament in the 10-year history of the event.

Durham found himself at the center of Elon's success, shooting a program-record 17-under-par 196 (70-63-63) to capture his second collegiate individual title, and first since the spring of his freshman year in 2023. Durham – who also notched a program low 36-hole record of 126 with his back-to-back 63s in rounds two and three – birdied nine holes Tuesday, including 16-18.

Jack Wieler carded his third straight 68 – and fifth straight under-par round dating back to the West Bay Collegiate Invitational last week – to tie for third place with a personal collegiate-low 54-hole 204 (-9). Freshmen William Carr (-5, 208) and Drew Yeagley (-3, 210) tied for 11th and 20th overall while fellow rookie Dylan Lewis – playing as an individual – shot a third-round 68 to move up the leaderboard and finish tied for 24th with a 2-under 211.
