RICHMOND, Va. – Elon midfielder Dominik Renz was tabbed as the CAA Rookie of the Year and was one of seven Phoenix to earn all-conference accolades Wednesday as the league unveiled its postseason men's soccer honors.
Renz is the first Elon player to win CAA Rookie of the Year since the Phoenix joined the CAA in 2014. In his first year of NCAA soccer, Renz is second on the Phoenix with eight points. He is tied with Kozak for a team-best three goals, all of which are game-winning tallies. The two-time CAA Rookie of the Week winner had a four-match point streak earlier this season, which featured goals in three of four games. His three game winners were the second most among CAA players in the regular season, behind only Hofstra's Laurie Goddard.
In his first season as Elon's starting goalie, Leavitt has posted 10 shutouts in 16 matches, tied for the most clean sheets in the country. His .438 goals against average and .865 save percentage both lead the CAA and rank in the top 10 nationally. Leavitt has conceded just seven goals this season and has not yet allowed a goal at Rudd Field, posting eight shutouts on Elon's home pitch. The graduate student won CAA Defensive Player of the Week twice this season and appeared on Top Drawer Soccer's Midseason Watchlist.
Msabaha earned All-CAA recognition for the third time in four years. He led all Phoenix field players in minutes this season (1,380), missing just 60 out of a possible 1,440 minutes in Elon's 16 regular season matches. The team captain played the full 90 minutes in the first 13 matches this season and helped Elon's back line register 10 shutouts. This is Msabaha's first time on the All-CAA Second Team after making the Third Team in 2022 and 2023.
For the second straight season, Kitch secured a spot on the All-CAA Second Team. The junior defender appeared in 15 of 16 matches this season, making nine starts and playing almost 900 minutes. Kitch was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 13 after scoring the game-winning goal in the closing minutes of a 1-0 victory against UNCW. Kitch has played the full 90 minutes in five matches this season.
Levy joined his two back-line teammates on the All-CAA Second Team for his first career all-conference recognition. The redshirt junior started 14 of 15 appearances this season, logging 1,127 minutes, the fifth most among Elon field players. The defender and team captain scored his first career goal in a win over Radford and played the full 90 minutes nine times.
Rounding out Elon's Second Team honorees was Mucchetti, who picked up his first All-CAA appearance. The senior midfielder played the second most minutes (1,351) among Elon's field players and was one of three Phoenix to surpass 1,300 minutes on the campaign. He recorded assists in victories over USC Upstate and Davidson and went the full 90 minutes on 10 occasions, including in each of Elon's last four regular season matches.
Kozak led the team in points (10) during his first regular season with the Phoenix. The junior's four assists are the most on the team and his three goals are tied with Renz for the most. He has attempted a team-high 25 shots on the campaign. Of his 10 points, seven have come in conference matches, including three points in a pair of victories against UNCW. Kozak started all 16 games for Elon during the regular season and went the full 90 minutes in seven of the last eight matches.
The Phoenix begins postseason play on Sunday in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament. Elon, the CAA South Division champion, is the No. 1 seed in the tournament from the South and will host either Campbell or UNCW at Rudd at 6 p.m.
