ELON – Four Phoenix scored in double figures, but the Elon men's basketball team fell 97-88 to Furman on Wednesday night at the Schar Center.

Elon (4-4) used a 20-5 surge to build an 18-point lead midway through the first half, but the Paladins answered with a run of their own to pull even at 44-44 by halftime before finding separation behind a 53-point second half. Furman (5-4) shot 50.8% from the field and held a narrow 41-38 edge on the glass.

Chandler Cuthrell paced the Phoenix offensively for the seventh time this season with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting and a 7-of-9 mark at the line while adding seven rebounds.
Randall Pettus II added 21 points on five made threes,
Ja'Juan Carr posted 12 points, six assists and five rebounds with just one turnover, and
Bryson Cokley chipped in 11 points off the bench.

Elon led 43–27 with 5:16 left in the half before Furman closed with a 17–1 spurt to draw even at the break. The Paladins took control after halftime, outscoring Elon 30-15 over the first 12 minutes of the period. The Phoenix stayed within reach and trailed by single digits for most of the final seven minutes, but Furman had an answer for each push.

Asa Thomas led Furman with 21 points, while Cooper Bowser finished with 19 points and nine rebounds.
