WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Elon University women's golf team sits in tenth place after the opening round of the Advance Golf Partner Collegiate.

The Phoenix shot a 303 (+15) in the first round to rank tenth, while Virginia Tech leads the field with a 13-under-par 275.
 
HIGHLIGHTS  

• Kelly Zhao led the Phoenix with a 1-under-par 71, carding two birdies and just one bogey to tie for seventh place.
• Emma Hansen is tied for 42nd place after shooting a 76 (+4), which included two birdies and 11 pars.
• Ashley Lafontaine recorded a 5-over-par 77 to tie for 57th place.
• Competing as an individual, Andrea Asmundsdottir carded a 78 (+6).
• Garland Gould is tied for 69th place with a 79 (+7), while Annie Wu is tied for 78th place after shooting a 9-over-par 81.

• The tournament's second round begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
