CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team sits in third place after the first two rounds of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, posting a combined 8-over-par 568.

The Phoenix recorded rounds of 281 and 287 to trail only Kennesaw State (-3) and North Carolina (+1).

HIGHLIGHTS  

• Juan Callejo Ropero and Jack Wieler are tied for 11th to lead the Phoenix. Callejo Ropero carded rounds of 69 and 72, leading the team in total pars (25) and par-3 scoring average (3.00). Wieler posted a team-best nine birdies and shares the team lead in par-4 scoring average (4.00).
• Matthew Doyle and Garrett Risner are tied for 22nd after identical rounds of 71 and 72. Risner leads the team in par-5 scoring average (4.33), while Doyle also holds a share of the team lead in par-4 scoring (4.00).
• Landon Durham is tied for 34th with a 36-hole total of 145 (+5).
• Competing as an individual, Bronson Myers is tied for 74th with a 12-over-par 152.

• The final round will begin tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start.
