Ryan Sprock Named NCBWA Third Team All-American

Elon, N.C.- Junior RHP/IF Ryan Sprock was announced as a Third Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Wednesday afternoon. Sprock is the first NCBWA All-American since George Kirby was selected to the Third Team back in 2019.

Sprock was chosen as a semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award, as announced by the College Baseball Hall of Fame last month. Sprock was also announced as being a member of the All-CAA First Team in May.

Earlier this season, Sprock earned the John Olerud National Two-Way Player of the Week award for his performances against both #4 North Carolina and Towson. The junior got it done from both sides of the ball as he collected his first save of the season on the mound against Towson and finished his week 7-for-14 (.500) at the plate with two home runs, six runs scored and four RBI.

On the mound, Sprock was the top arm out of the Phoenix bullpen. Sprock had a team-low ERA of 3.63 and a team low WHIP of 1.10. The junior made 15 relief appearances and was a part of three Elon shutouts. His four saves led the club and his strikeouts to walk ratio of nearly 3:1 was also tops on the Phoenix.

In the batter's box, Sprock was the top power hitter in the Phoenix lineup. He led the club in doubles, home runs, slugging percentage and total bases. Sprock was also top 10 in the CAA in all  categories mentioned apart from doubles. He set career bests in batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs and total bases this season.
