NORMAN, Okla. – The Elon University men's golf team has received the 2024-25 Platform Golf Team Academic Award, as the recipients were announced Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
A GCAA-record 292 schools across six divisions earned a Platform Golf Team Academic Award. To garner the honor, a team must finish with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Last week, five Elon men's golfers were selected as Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.
Juan Callejo Ropero,
Matthew Doyle,
Garrett Risner and
Jack Wieler notched the distinction by competing in at least 50% of Elon's competitive rounds, maintaining a stroke average of under 76.0 and maintaining a cumulative career GPA of 3.2
On the course, the Phoenix won its first-ever conference title at the Division I level in the spring, winning the CAA Championship in a dramatic sudden-death playoff against Drexel. The Phoenix secured the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship with that victory and finished 12th in the Bremerton Regional.
