RICHMOND, Va. – A pair of Elon University men's soccer players took home CAA weekly awards on Monday, as announced by the conference. Goalkeeper
Jackson Leavitt was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week and midfielder
Dominik Renz earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
Leavitt started both of Elon's games in goal last week, highlighted by a six-save effort at UNCW that helped the Phoenix to a 2-1 victory in its CAA opener. The six saves were a career high for Leavitt, who earned his first full win in goal for Elon after splitting time in a 2023 win over Greensboro College. Leavitt also turned in a clean sheet in Elon's season opener against Old Dominion on Aug. 25.
Renz scored the game-winning goal for the Phoenix against UNCW, connecting in the 38th minute on a feed from
Jahmir Flowers. It was his first career goal on his first shot as a Phoenix. He played in both Elon's games last week, logging 44 minutes in the Phoenix midfield.
Elon is off to a 1-0-1 start, with the win coming against CAA opponent UNCW. The Phoenix will play two contests this week, starting with a non-conference test at Radford on Tuesday. Then, Elon will welcome conference foe College of Charleston to Rudd Field on Saturday for a noon kickoff.
